It was founded on January 9, 1961, as İzmir’s first Rotary Club, and received its charter on April 20, 1963. The İzmir Rotary Club aims to promote and cultivate the "Ideal of Service"—considered the foundation of all worthy endeavors—and to foster international understanding, goodwill, and peace by establishing worldwide friendships among business and professional people united by this ideal.
